Driving lessons – nervous learners can be made a lot easier when the driving instructor providing the lessons has many years of experience. As an experienced instructor with over 42 years of experience of teaching all age groups. I can say that I fall into the category of helping more nervous learners to pass their driving test.
The last eight nervous learner drivers who have taken their driving test have all passed first time with no driver errors. Every one of those eight students was as nervous as yourself. I know you might think at the moment that no one can be as nervous as you, but how do you know that for sure?
Driving lessons – nervous learners that help gain confidence
The best way to overcome nerves is to understand that it’s not you who is the nervous one. You have been influenced all of your life by the people around you, stories on social media and your own perception of learning to drive. The only nerves that you have created for yourself are the same ones that get created by all of us before a new event takes place in our life. To be nervous about any new event is normal.
On your first driving lesson you are helped every step of the way. You are expected to know very little to nothing about learning to drive.
Many years ago, a relative or friend may have had certain negative experiences on either their driving test or lessons. The story you have been told, hopefully in good faith, would have been exaggerated over time. As an example 15 years ago, I took a student to her driving test, and she failed. I asked her where did she fail? She said on the road from Coupar Angus to Blairgowrie. “What specifically was the problem?” I replied. “It was an absolute nightmare.” She replied. I got no further than that with my questioning.
She came back for more lessons after about two weeks. I asked again. “What was the problem?” Now the answer came back. “I got stuck behind a tractor, then it all went wrong.” I still didn’t get to the bottom of what actually went wrong. This particular pupil had blotted it out of her mind and couldn’t recall the incident. She passed next time, and one can only wonder what she would tell her children about that day!
Pass first time driving lessons nervous learners
The proven method to help you pass your driving test first time, is learning from a professional instructor who has years of experience of helping people who are nervous learners. One who knows how you feel on every lesson and will help you every step of the way to reach your first-time pass.
Driving lessons need to be taken regularly. The best way to do that is to learn to drive on an intensive driving course. And not a course that has the first lesson on a Monday and a test at the end of the week. Those are the worst kind of courses available for those who are nervous. From day one, the pressure is on to pass a driving test. Instead of learning to drive first. Once you learn to drive confidently, you will be able to pass any test first time.
Trial driving lesson – nervous learners
One sure way to overcome nerves is to book a trial lesson with no commitment to continue. That way, you get to know your instructor and the type of car you will be using for lessons. If everything seems compatible, you will have reduced your nerves dramatically before you start your intensive course. You will even have some idea as to how many lessons you might need before you become a confident driver. It might not be as many as you think.
